Christy is a Member at Clawson & Staubes and practices in the firm’s litigation section. Christy strives to provide aggressive, cost effective representation for her clients. Sometimes this means working hard to posture the case for a positive settlement, while other times it means trying the case to a jury verdict.
Christy is originally from Walterboro, South Carolina and has lived in the Lowcountry area for most of her life. She attended Newberry College on a basketball scholarship, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Christy then attended the Charleston School of Law, where she graduated cum laude and received the CALI award for academic excellence in Trial Advocacy and Constitutional Law. While in law school, Christy sat on the Executive Board of the Charleston Law Review, serving as both an Articles Editor and Symposium Editor. Christy was also a member of numerous organizations while in law school, including the Student Trial Lawyers Association.
Christy has tried numerous cases to verdict and represents her clients in both state and federal courts in South Carolina. She takes pride in seeing her hard work pay off with favorable results for her clients. Christy represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases including personal injury, slip and falls, trucking accidents, wrongful death, defamation (libel and slander), assault and battery, dram shop (liquor liability), brain injury, and workers’ compensation. She also practices in the area of employment investigations, where she is hired to investigate claims of discrimination or wrongdoing in the workplace. Christy has handled a wide variety of employment investigations, including high profile investigations that have garnered significant media attention.
Christy is honored to have been listed in the 2013-2016 editions of Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star in the area of Civil Litigation Defense. Less than three percent of the lawyers in South Carolina receive this honor. She is also an active member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association (SCDTAA), and the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance (CLM).
When not working, Christy can usually be found at the beach, rooting for the Clemson Tigers, enjoying live music, or spending time with her dog, Bodie in search of the perfect dog park.
