John Deere backhoe attachment recalled due to injury risk
As of September 02, 2016, John Deere recalled all model 485A backhoe attachments for John Deere compact utility tractors due to crushing hazard.
Product details: The attachment works on John Deere compact utility tractor models 4044M, 4044R, 4049M, 4049R, 4052M, 4052R, 4066M, and 4066R, which bear serial numbers starting with “1LV0485A“. The backhoe attachments are green and have the leaping deer John Deere logo printed on the side. The serial number is located on the rear of the backhoe mainframe; Sold at John Deere dealers nationwide between May and June of this year.
Risk: The backhoe frame has a chance of coming loose from the mounting hardware, swinging toward the operator and potentially hitting or crushing them.
Remedy: Consumers should stop the use of the attachment as soon as they hear about the recall and contact their local John Deere dealership for information on repair.
